You remember when you actually loved shopping and your wardrobe used to be full of clothes. You never had anything to wear, but actually you did? Mostly the reason you couldn’t find anything to wear was because there was too much to choose from and you just couldn’t decide?
Then the kids come along and rather than shop for yourself, you started shopping for them instead? Yes. That has been happening in our house for the last five years. Both the hubby & I have ended up with shocking wardrobes, clothes with holes in, clothes that are knackered from years of tumble dryer ironing and clothes that just don’t even get put away.
Every year, I make an attempt at replacing some of my wardrobe, my winter wardrobe especially. I ask for some pennies for my birthday, then I have no idea what to get, then those pennies sit in my purse while I think about it. And think about it some more. And because I’m not used to shopping for myself anymore I have no idea what to buy. I can’t decide. And because they’ve sat there so long, those pennies end up getting frittered away, often spent on bits of shopping and the kids. If I’m lucky I might actually find myself with a pair of jeans and some new socks for the winter.
I’ve made a decision though. This year, I’m pre-planning. I’m going to do the usual and politely request pennies instead of presents, but I’m deciding what I’m having in advance. Then I’m going to buy it all straight away and not even give my purse time to fritter it away.
I’ve already made a start on the planning front! A new winter coat is a must. The one I have is almost 6 years old, it doesn’t even have full sleeves. It’s a swing coat that was bought to accommodate a growing bump and only has one button. Not particularly practical, especially for the winters and all the snow we’ve had the last few years. Every year I freeze in it, then by the time I’ve made a decision to get a new one it starts to warm up and I think, ‘Oh well, I’ll get one next year’.
And here we are again. It’s already next year! Not sure how that happened.
But this year I’m doing it. I’m thinking a little number with fur.
Maybe a parka?
Something to keep me snug. I like snug!
Now if only I could decide which one!!
*This is a sponsored post, but I do want a new winter coat to keep me warm & snug this year, and the hubby has just said I can get one as an early birthday present. Winning!!
