Spring cleaning. In Autumn.

September 20, 2013 by Kate Leave a Comment

This year I’ve been desperately trying to spring clean the house. And failing. I did start in the spring. Unfortunately, I didn’t get very far. I persevered but over the summer holidays it was like trying to tidy up when you have kids.

Oh wait. Wrong analogy. Maybe that should’ve been something about shovelling snow!

I don’t know whether it’s an age thing. A need to clear my space (and therefore my head) thing. Or just a ‘fed up of living in a pigsty’ thing! Maybe it’s just my inner OCD sneaking out. The OCD I thought had been well and truly dampened when we had the kids, but I suspect there’s a little glimpse of it now and again!

Anyway, I desperately need to find time to clear out, to get rid. The thing is, most of the stuff we need to get rid of needs sorting, the kids toys, clothes they’ve outgrown, dvds we never watch and games consoles we never play with anymore.

What I’d really love to do is give all the stuff away to charity where it’s really needed, however what we also need to do is raise some cash for Christmas because it’s looming. I know that because everyone on Twitter keeps reminding me. All the time! Please stop telling me how many Saturdays we’ve got left!

I’ve been plotting & making plans again, I just hope I can carry them through soon, especially in time for Christmas because we’ll need some space. As we do every year. I’m pretty sure we won’t actually fit anything else in at the moment!

So, I’m going to save some of the clothes for friends who have had baby girls, some are going to be donated to our local Women’s Aid along with the toys . I’m also going to dig out all the dvds and games consoles we no longer need to sell and raise some cash for Christmas. Because no matter how much you’ve saved already Father Christmas always needs more!!

*This is a sponsored post. Our need for cash for Christmas is very real. As is my urge to completely gut the house and make it tidy (well as much as it’s ever going to be) again!
